The Feast of Thanksgiving–A Poem

As I’m typing this, I just returned home from an afternoon hanging out with family. I have over-eaten and await the reckoning. But as this day of “food, family, and football” comes to a close and people ready their elbows for a morning of shopping tomorrow, I’d like to share a poem I wrote today.

The Feast of Thanksgiving

Leaves on the ground, clouds in the sky;
The prospect of turkey and pumpkin pie;
Family gathers to give thanks and say grace;
A warm glow is alight on everyone’s face.
In the background, sounds of football on T.V.;
Children at their own table chattering with glee;
All feel the joy in this moment of living,
And bless God for the feast of Thanksgiving!

I hope you enjoyed this poem and had a great Thanksgiving! May this holiday season be a blessed one for you!
